Curriculum Vitae - ZENG Nian

1954 : born in Wuxi, Jiangsu province, China.

1966 : Cultural Revolution and closing of schools; Zeng Nian starts to practice photography. At 16, he is           affected as a sailor on the Yangzijiang ; he also starts to study painting.

1979 and 1980 : during his holidays in summer, makes several bicycles trips to Shanghai and Hangzhou.

1981 : six months of bicycle to the West of China up to Tibet.

1982 : leaves his sailor job.

1989 : His photo of the rock star Cui Jian makes the cover of the record Rock on the long March.

1990 - 1993 : photo exhibitions in France, Germany, Spain and USA.

1994 : associates with the photo agency Contact Press Images. Starts to work with international revues, his           specialty being big reports.

2000 : leaves Contact Press Images to get associated with the agency Gamma.

2004 : participates to the creation of Dragon Image in China.

Collaborates principally with avec the following revues : Paris Match, Figaro Magazine, Geo Germany, Geo France, New York Times Magazine, The Independent, Marie-ClaireFrance, National Geographic French edition …

Photography prices

1996 : second price of World Press Photo (Amsterdam, Holland).

2003 : two prices at Festival international du scoop et du journalisme d’Angers en France.

2005 : price of the Pingyao International Photography Festival (China).
